At TabPilates, teacher training goes beyond learning the Pilates repertoire. Our Balanced Body® education combines comprehensive movement education, practical experience, observation, teaching practice, and mentorship to help you develop the skills and confidence to teach the body in front of you.
Whether you're exploring becoming a Pilates teacher or ready to begin your comprehensive training journey, you're in the right place.
You don't have to know exactly where your Pilates journey will lead. You just have to be ready to learn.
Learn from Tabatha L. Russell, a Balanced Body® Educator with more than 30 years of experience in Pilates, movement, and education—and the founder of a fully equipped Pilates studio that has served Chicago's South Side for 17 years.
Tab also holds a Master's degree in Education, bringing both extensive Pilates experience and formal training in how people learn to her approach to teacher development.
Her leadership extends beyond the studio. Tab serves on the board of the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) and is the creator of MentorConnect™, her mentorship experience supporting Pilates professionals in their teaching, professional development, and business growth.
When you train with Tab, you're learning from someone who understands the Pilates profession from multiple perspectives—as a teacher, educator, mentor, studio owner, and industry leader.
Experience informs what you teach. Education shapes how you teach it. Mentorship helps you develop your own voice.

A respected education. A comprehensive approach to movement.
Balanced Body® has a global network of 400+ educators, a community of more than 40,000, and education available in more than 60 countries.
The curriculum connects the Pilates method with current biomechanics and exercise science, helping you understand the why behind the movement, not simply what exercise comes next.
Balanced Body® education develops skills in cueing, coaching, observing and analyzing movement, class design, modifications, and working with different client needs.
Balanced Body® describes Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Training as the gold standard of Pilates education because a comprehensively trained instructor learns to work across the full Pilates studio system and apply that repertoire to the goals and needs of individual clients.
